I couldn't agree more with this:  "If they see you sweat or sense your desperation, the game is over."  Desperation is ugly.  It is a turnoff to anyone who encounters it.  Being attractive, as you indicate, is about being positive, enthusiastic, and/or at least somewhat confident.
