Countrywide made it a practice of communicationg only by phone (always with different people and different departments) and refusing to provide any varifiable record of their agreements with customers (meaning no email or fax confirmation of agreements of information given on the phone).
It is a long story, but Bank of America refused to remove erroneously reported "lates" and the person who made the final response on that issue said, "We don't think we made any mistakes and I am just following our policy." Obviously, the "we" and "our" to which she referred was Countrywide
